There were 10 updates, it did take a while. Yes, in my experience, extensive Windows Updates can "help to cause" a hard drive failure, (especially if a hard drive was not in the best of shape to begin with), not because of the updates themselves but the extra load/stress they put on the hard drive during installation. Is there a way to identify what the new updates were?
